Pyrenean Training Weekend:  May 17-18 2008

As our exciting trip to the Pyrenees gets ever closer, the team signed up for a two day training weekend in the heart of the Yorkshire Pennines.

The aim was to simulate the pain and hardship we could 'look forward to' when we arrive in France in 3 weeks. Based in Teesdale, we planned a couple of hard, hilly routes. As this is Teesdale the weather immediately showed us who was boss by raining - full winter gear was the order of the day. Must be something about this part of the world! Climbs enjoyed included Tan Hill, Buttertubs, Mallerstang, Alston Moor, and Stanhope Edge. The legs were definitely tired by the end. Still, 130 miles of tough riding with over 3600m of climbing would stand us in good stead (I hope).
